This week the team are busy preparing for a very busy new term, we have got so much happening I just dont know where to start... how about at the beginning ? Ok here we go.. stay with me on the storyline..
Learner to Earner
Our students have had a tough time with education and our first task at SGE is to build up some resilience and self confidence. We do that through collaborative gaming and exploring purposeful projects.
Gamification of learning is a really powerful way of turning a fearful experience into a journey of curious exploration and generating exciting rather than fear.
Our current cohort of students have smashed the records this year and are all competing for the top slot on the hi score leaderboard. 100% success achieving Certification with highly relevant and industry recognised organisations such as CompTIA.

So now we have a confident and curious learner, how do they become an earner ?
Apprenticeships are hard to find in the SW and AI is generating fear in the market.. time to go make some opportunities.
Celebrating Curiosity
We have teamed up with B Sides Exeter and are sponsoring an Event on 24/25th April called B Sides. B Sides is a celebration of community and events are held all over the world to bring the Cyber Security community together. SGE are working with B Sides to create a gateway to a Cyber Career and as such we will be holding an event on 24th Apr at Exeter Uni called "B Sides Next Gen" to bring students, educators, cyber professionals and employers together.
If you are a parent or student and are interested in a future Cyber Career grab a ticket here quick - its free, lots of our students are going to attend.
Cultivating Creativity
One of our students, Oli won a competition to have their design be printed on a T Shirt which is being sold to raise money for a wonderful charity Children's Hospice South West. Grab yours now as they are flying out of the door.

Students attending Workshops
We have several of our Cyber Security Pathway students attending some incredible workshops that will give them hands on experience of Web Application Security hosted by HackingHub - for more info take a look here

Retro Village
Last but by no means least, SGE will be celebrating our student's work at the main B Sides event on Saturday 25th April - if you don't already have a ticket grab one here

Curiosity began for me with the ZX Spectrum and progressed to the Amiga. Later in life I explored the BBC Micro and many more machines that we use day to day at SGE. Come and see what our students have built, play retro games and chat to us about how we have teamed up with a huge name in computing but that is for another day.
Commander Jamieson - its time to explore the galaxy and become one of the Elite... fire up the Sidewinder
